Garlic Scapes, Grilled To Perfection

Something new from the garden, garlic scapes!  Garlic scapes are the flower bud of the garlic plant. The bud is removed in late June to encourage the bulbs to thicken up.  I simply grill them with a little bit of olive oil, sea salt, and freshly ground pepper and what a fabulous treat to serve on a hamburger, steak, or mushroom burger.  Come to think of it, just serving them on a platter would be marvelous as well!  They taste just like garlic, but with a milder flavor.

To Prepare:

Toss scapes with a bit of olive oil, sea salt, and freshly ground pepper.  Grill or saute for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending upon your tastes.  I grilled them for the full 10 minutes so that they were very tender and easy to eat.
